Recommendations

Some of the products that I love and use frequently can be hard to find, or available only at health food stores where they charge a premium. I wanted to make it easier for you to access them so you can try them for yourself. You can purchase directly from Amazon through this site by clicking the photos. Enjoy!

Bragg Liquid Aminos is a soy-based soy sauce substitute with much less sodium. I use it almost exclusively instead of soy sauce. Recipes include stir fry, Quinoa with Sweet Potatoes & Broccoli, that wonderful vegan Creamy Tahini Dressing, Creamy Broccolini Soup, and seitan recipes including my Vegan Taco Meat. This product is gluten-free.

Spectrum Chia Seeds tend to absorb liquid more consistently and have fewer “duds” that the other brands I’ve tried, including bulk bins. I make Chia Seed Tea to drink pretty much every week. They are also used in Vegan Gravy which is just about the most wonderful thing in the world.

Navitas Naturals Cacao Powder is certified organic and raw – raw cacao is hard to find on grocery shelves but less processing means more good stuff. I use this almost daily in my Superfood Chocolate Shake so it goes quickly in our household and a bag this size makes good sense. I also use it in Cacao Pancakes.

Bob’s Red Mill is the brand I use for Vital Wheat Gluten Flour to make seitan like these Seitan Medallions or my Vegan Taco Meat. In addition to seitan, it’s used as an additive when baking bread to improve volume and elasticity – add one tablespoon per cup of flour. If your local grocer doesn’t carry, the mill sells a 4-pack through Amazon which can be stored in your freezer.

Bob’s Red Mill also offers Nutritional Yeast. I usually get nutritional yeast in bulk bins but if you can’t find it, this is a brand I would trust. Nutritional yeast is a complete protein and rich in vitamin B including B-12, which is important for vegans to supplement in their diet. People often sprinkle on popcorn for a cheesy flavor, or on pasta. I use it as an ingredient in Vegan Gravy and Seitan.
